August 2020 Bullet Journal Setup

August is here, the sunflowers are rising up taller, and apple season beckons. Can you believe it? I don't know about you, but I'm so excited for this month! If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that every Thursday all August-long I'm hosting #AustensAndAlcottsInAugust, a weekly book-ish prompt inspired by Austen, Alcott, and a love for classic literature. I'd love you to join along!

Per usual, as it's the end of the month, here's my bullet journal spread for August. I think it's my favorite spread of the year!

New to the world of bullet journaling? Check out my introductory bujo post here, where I help you navigate through picking out your first journal and finding innovative inspiration through materials you already have on hand.

My first impulse was to incorporate a picket-fence with sunflowers as the theme of this month's spread, and I completely indulged the whim. I used my Micron pens, as ever, primarily in a size 03 for drawing and 01 for lettering, and a couple of markers to color in the sunflowers. For the monthly calendar spread, I used the same theme and again doodled in the wood detail of the picket-fence. I'm in love with how it turned out!

I like to limit my monthly spread to featuring just the calendar and my habit tracker, leaving my goals and to-do lists to the weeklies. I explain in previous Bullet Journal posts how I've been using icons instead of writing out each habit for my tracker, as it saves space and I enjoy replicating the tiny doodles every month. :)

For the weekly spread, I'm switching things up a bit. I find it incredibly difficult to fit seven days onto these spreads, so I've begun using a 4-5 day spread depending on the business of the week. It gives me so much more space, as I like to keep a bullet journal not only to track daily tasks, but also to document the comings and goings of the day, sort of like a diary. It suits my needs ideally!

P.S. Something very exciting is going up on the blog Tuesday morning. I can hardly wait! Stay tuned... :)

Until then!
